What your test results mean
The average indoor radon level is estimated to be about 1.3 pCi/L, and about 0.4 pCi/L of radon is normally found in the outside air. If the results of your test show a radon level of approximately 4.0 pCi/L or higher the EPA recommends that you perform a second short term test to verify the radon level. If the second test results are equal to or higher than the first, then you may be certain that you have a radon problem and need to take action.

There are several methods that can be used to lower radon levels in your home or office. Some techniques prevent radon from entering your home while others reduce radon levels after it has entered. The EPA generally recommends methods which prevent the entry of radon. Your state Radon Agency can provide you with a number of references, resources and licensed/certified contractors to evaluate your problem and recommend a reduction method. The below listed references may be used to learn more about the Radon problem, remediate the problem within your home or office and provide sources for additional information. If you do not have internet access, the state Radon Agencies phone numbers are listed in the "Guide to the Dangers of Radon" booklet provided with your Radon Test Kit.
